Checklist for your move to your new home.
Once your settlement is finalized, you may need to advise certain people and utilities of your new address and to inform of disconnection of services and utilities from your old address.
- Telephone Company
- Post Office
- Electricity Company
- Gas Company
- Taxation Department
- Insurance Companies
- Newspaper Delivery
- Milk Delivery
- Department Motor Vehicles
- Medicare
- Private Health Insurance
- Employer
- Dentist
- Doctor
- Electoral Roll
- Bank Credit
- Card provider
- RAC/Clubs
Note: SA Water and the Local Council/s will have been informed by your conveyancer during settlement.
Remember - When you vacate your old premises make sure that...
- No taps are left running
- Light switches are turned off
- Water heater drained and turned off
- Gas taps turned off
- Old keys are surrendered
- Roller door remotes surrendered
- Dogs and Cats are not left behind!
Don't forget the move for your pet is also a traumatic time.
- Make sure that your pet is kept inside or in a secure area where they cannot get out for the first week or two, giving them time to get used to their new environment.
- Place familiar toys, food and water bowls, and other loved items near them so that they have that familiar scent.
- This will give them some sought of security until they are used to their new abode.
